Global Game Jam (GGJ) 2026 at Jakarta, held at Lytogame from January 30 to February 1, 2026, brought together the energy of game creators from various backgrounds to collaborate and transform ideas into playable experiences within a limited time.
Participants were challenged to create and develop a game based on this year's global theme "Mask", in the form of a digital game or a board game.
GGJ 2026 at Jakarta event on Sunday, February 1, 2026, was attended by the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), Irene Umar. In her remarks, Irene Umar stated that GGJ plays a strategic role as a platform for testing ideas, establishing collaboration patterns, and providing an initial foundation for the development of the Indonesian game industry.
On this occasion, the Deputy Minister also personally tried out several games created by participants, both digital and board games. He also engaged in dialogue with the developers about the creative process, storyline strengthening, visual quality, and opportunities for further development. He assessed that the participants' achievements in such a short time reflected the capacity of Indonesian talent, capable of producing works with a strong foundation.
